03.1 Training

Course in Municipal Management and Local Development (Santo Domingo – Dominican Republic. November-December 2007)

Icodes has actively participated in this course organized by INTEC, as it has become a common situation for several years. Furthermore, ICODES had several meetings with people in charge of CONARE and those persons in charge of Hollywood City Hall (Florida, U.S.A), in order to develop further activities in the near future. Likewise, ICODES had meetings wiith the Dominican Federation of Municipalities to stengthen ties, as well as to hand over some bibliographic works.

• Participation in the first edition of the Degree in Management and Local Development, celebrated in Nicaragua. 35 Professionals from different Organizations and municipalities participated in this event. It was inaugurated the 5th of October, 2007, within Higher Education Institute’s lecture rooms in Managua, Nicaragua.
Within the framework of the Program Associated to the Training System of the UIM. M. Roberto Moreno -National Director of the Municipal Administrative Degree-, Sergio Martínez–Vice-rector of Investigation and Development of the Engineering National University MSC-, Ms. Virginia Gutiérrez, representing AECI in Nicaragua, Doctor Manuel Marchena, representing the Teaching Staff of the Cooperation Framework UIM – ICODES, as well as Latin American Professors who will give several lessons of the Degree gathered together for the inauguration ceremony.

• Participation in the Seminary Finance and Budget Management named “Comparative analysis of the Tax System and competences between Spain and Venezuela”, included within the Master in Business Administration and Local Public Management for Area Andina, organized by the Institute Zuliano of Political, Economic and Social Studies in Venezuela (IZEPES). Maracaibo (Venezuela), 4th and 5th of October, 2007.

• VI International Seminary about Democrazitation, Decentralization and Compromise in Local Governments. This seminary took place in Trujillo (Peru) from the 23rd of September 2007 until the 26th, and it was organized by the Latin American Union of Municipal Leaders (UIM), with the participation of the Institute of Cooperation for Sustainable Development (ICODES).

• Participation in the Module “Urbanizarion, Zoning and Transportation”, celebrated in Maracaibo (Venezuela) on 28th and 29th of June, 2007. Organized by IZEPES.

• Meeting with the Mayor of Hollywood (Florida, U.S.A), Mara S. Giulianti, to whom it was suggested the possibility of opening a line of collaboration in the future. June, 2007.

• Participation in the IX Local Management Workshop for Latin Americans, celebrated in Stetson University in Deland (Florida, U.S.A.). 2nd-9th of June, 2007.

• Performances in the Dominican Republic. March, 2007. Organization of a Teaching Session in Pontifical University Mother and Teacher in Santiago de los Caballeros. Hand over of bibliographic works to the Center of Regional and Urban Studies from said University. Planning of the next sessions of local management, to be achieved altogether with universities INTEC and Santiago’s University
